Newspaper Analysis
For the paper that
I created I decided to use the John Terry news story as I believe that it is
what the ideal for the paper would want to read about and would attract them to
buy the paper, another reason for me choosing this article is that typically
the readers of red top newspapers are patriotic and Terry is an extremely
patriotic football player and ex England captain which will appeal to the ideal
reader.
His interests
which include going to the pub and betting on horse and football racing made me
include the advert for a sign up offer for a betting company. This will attract
the ideal reader to purchase the newspaper because they will be interested in
the betting aspect of it along with the horse racing.
I chose the
headline for the John Terry article, as it is two syllables long, which is
ideal for the newspaper as red top papers reading age is very low which makes
them easy to read.
I chose to include
the story about beer prices being increased by George Osborne as this would affect
him as he goes to the pub regularly. Another article I included was the news
that Bruce Forsyth will host the TV show Strictly Come Dancing again, this will
interest him because the ideal reader doesn’t have Sky therefore he will be
restricted to watching the freeview channels which will therefore interest him
if it is something that he watches. For the headline of this article I used a
low amount of syllables to make it easier for the ideal reader to read.
